This exhibition brings together work by MA Fine Art students developed through two overlapping strands: the Diagram Workshop (led by Dean Kenning) and the Animation Workshop (led by Nooshin Farhid). The Diagram Workshop draws on the ‘Social Body Mind Mapping’ method, where diagramming becomes a means of thinking rather than illustrating. These works operate as abstract machines, mapping the forces, questions, and materials shaping each practice. Rather than clarifying meaning, the diagrams complicate it, exposing the unstable ground from which artistic decisions arise. Alongside this, the Animation Workshop features short works made through both analogue and digital techniques. Each piece emerges from a distinct conceptual position, reflecting different cultural, political, and material contexts. The moving image here becomes a field of construction. where time, rhythm, and image are used to assemble alternative narratives, speculative structures, and experimental forms. Together, the exhibition offers a set of propositions. Diagrams that disrupt coherence, and animations that resist containment. What links these works is an attention to process, to uncertainty, and to the tangled relation between intention and outcome. These are works made not to explain, but to ask.
The MA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins is a two-year course, supporting a broad range of experimental practices:
