A collaboration of new works by Stephen Hennessy and Jhinuk Sarkar

In this exhibition, we examine contrasts of chaos. New work by both Stephen and Jhinuk shares black & white Illustrations of busy scenes in urban Archway, of North London, shown alongside the inky coloured dramatic monsoon season in Kolkata, West Bengal of India.

Stephen Hennessy is a London based Fine Artist. He has previously won awards in Ireland and New York and has exhibited and undertaken residencies worldwide. When not painting or drawing in pen and ink he can be found lurking the streets of North London trying to capture his next scene by memory. For his latest body of work Stephen has focused on his immediate surroundings - the bustling central hub of Archway. Trying to find a stillness and tranquility by depicting the chaos in ink drawings. @hennessy_stephen

Jhinuk Sarkar is a London based Illustrator and Educator. She has provided work for commissions worldwide and currently teaches Illustration and Inclusive Practices at University of the Arts London. She is interested in sensory experiences, and how they can be translated into form, image and communicate belonging. For her latest body of work Jhinuk has focused on translating smells and sounds during her recent trip to Kolkata, West Bengal, the land of her mother tongue. Her images search for nostalgia and storytelling that translates a life of two cultures and attempts to celebrate a yearning of a familiar chaos in colourful ink drawings. @paperfig
