Ilga Leimanis
Excess All Areas

Five Years Residency: 17-29 September 2019
Gallery Open: 28-29 Sept Sat-Sun 1-6pm
Closing Event: Friday 27 Sept 6-9pm

All other times open by appointment

Five Years will be hosting Ilga Leimanis for a short residency to develop a new series of drawings, which will be shown in the gallery during usual opening hours
(Saturday - Sunday 1-6pm).

This new work picks up from another series of drawings made earlier this year. These small pieces explored excess: overflowing vessels poured forth their contents and offered a vehicle to visualise the rhythm and energy of overflow and inundation. Work made during this residency hopes to explore a darker, fragmented, more explosive and turbulent excess, its energy uncontained and overflowing.
