Crania Sounds is a multi-media installation that explores the materiality of film and video, indelibly linking this materiality to its own history and subjects.
The work includes films that layer new and found imagery, much of which has been sourced from medical books, films and digital archives, explored through material processes. In these works, Rattigan, seeks to examine historical narratives of racial and evolutionary science to pose questions around subjective truth, misrepresentation and post-colonial identity.
Simon Rattigan is an artist living and working in London. He has developed his practice through sculpture, installation and experimental film and video.
