Claire will use the residency period at Five Years to produce a series of performances and performance photographs for sharing with an audience during the final weekend of the residency. Using cheap and accessible materials, these pieces will play with the idea of the moving image, being presented as a collection of bicycle wheel zoetropes that can be activated and controlled by the viewer. The residency will also be used to further develop an ongoing series Disappearing Act, in which the artist attempts to disappear within a black and white photograph.
Claire Undy is a London-based artist and curator, working largely with performance, video and time-based media and with a particular interest in making work that can be freely distributed or shared. She graduated from the Royal Academy Schools in 2016, and runs the online project space Skelf. Recent group exhibitions have included Wimbledon Space, Charlie Smith Gallery and One Minute North Wales artist film festival.
