‘Meanwhile’ is an experimental performance (1 hour durational piece) and a comment on the idea of ‘being together’ both as individuals as well as a collaborative group responding and sharing the same space in time observing and testing our body’s perceptions/reactions by improvising a series of repetition of gestures/actions.
By exploring the ‘production’ of movement and stillness and by liberating the body from its conventional and functional attributes (the body too often being preoccupied with doing something meaningful or useful) we make our own presence visible as an act-event. The body seen as an object which withdraws within a massive circulation of objects in our contemporary society will finally appear by activating space. The instantaneousness of a body which is meaningless and which has nothing to say but simply exists performs the ‘obscenity of the real’, there is no intent to represent, deceive or entertain, but just to bring forth what meaning cannot convey through our presence.
The abstract/outline should indicate what may appear in the publication and what kind of activity will subsequently be organised for the programme of events.
Materials: Elastic belts, ropes for hanging, a hook (on the ceiling) and a strong speaker for sound (Proper size of the place would be ‘2 meter x 2 meter’ for performance. Thanks.)
