10-11 March 2018
Saturday – Sunday 1-6pm
Preview Friday 9 March 6-9pm

In traditional Chinese painting mist is structural, it holds the picture together while dissolving it. Its structural strength is in its gathering and dispersal between sky, mountains and sea. Cheng-Chu Weng calls this property the structure of ambiguity and she explores this through installation as an expanded form of painting. In her work the part of mist is played by air turbulence, shadows and projected light between the body and space and the projector and screen.

These structures are not just formal experiments but sites of affect that bring to mind the haunted spaces between people, whether it is feeling the air stirred by a passing stranger or the invisible, silent bonds of kinship that structure families.
