Engagement with art requires engaging with things as art.

… we are all 'the public'.
What makes something a 'Public Matter'?
What can make something a subject of enquiry?
What qualities do things possess that can be harnessed to make things do something differently as art?
The event offers public engagement through participation in looking, thinking and conversation. It supports interrogating things 'through art as art', offering informed and enjoyable levels of involvement as important systems of public understanding.
Things do differing things for us in different ways for differing reasons.
We all enjoy sharing liking and disliking of things.
The event offers suggestions on what 'things' can be 'used to do'.
The LOVE of THINGS:
- promotes freedom and pleasure in the interrogation of things as a learning system.
- considers things as neither fixed nor finished.
- proposes that:
…thinking sets things into motion.
…things are not fixed in meaning.
Things go beyond the rationally describable.
