BRONZED: ROCHELLE FRY
An exhibition presenting 3 small bronze sculptures, in relation to music composed for the occasion.

The objects are abstract, evocative of trees or sailing boats. They are cast from geometric moulds but the final pieces are incomplete – allowing for trapped air, and slowly drying liquid metal to determine formal characteristics.  Organic shapes and textures slip the confines of implied rhythmic geometry and leak into more subtle aesthetic relations.  The sculptures are elegant and light, with more than a touch of entropic decay.

The artist has invited the music collective Squares and Triangles to create a musical accompaniment to the sculptures.  Their contribution is the result of an eight hour live music session devoted to the production of the final sound piece. For the session, a poster of Fry’s sculptures was hung on the wall of the music studio and used as a sound map.
